The world we live in is a world, where cowards can become leaders and they can transform into autocrats and dictators. If the coward is a dictator, he takes his revenge with "hatred" and aims to make violence prevalent. When violence prevails, societies are cringed and weakened. On the opposite pole of this weakness, each individual who is weakened empowers the strength of the authority. The people who are brave and heroic transfer those qualities to a representative figure and instead, they themselves become coward and weak-minded. People; who have never before decided for themselves regarding their purpose and reason of existence, start to decide for you, "despite you". Those who have been dictated all their lives as to what to do in all aspects of life, through doctrines and holy books, do not know what to do, how to behave in front of authority. They have become vulnerable or rendered weak as citizens, who are unable to think even the possibility that they have consciousness themselves.
"Homo Homini Lupus or Forgetting about Tomorrow" exhibition questions all those subjects and aims to contribute in raising awareness of the issues regarding how legalizing violence / authority operates, and its methods as well as results.
The exhibition under the curatorship of Fırat Arpaoğlu, includes the works of Antonio Cosentino, Deniz Aktaş, Eda Gecikmez, Yeni Anıt, Işıl Eğrikavuk, İnsel İnal, Murat Tosyalı, Olcay Kuş & Pınar Öğrenci and can be viewed 26 April through 25 May, 2014 at m1886 Art Projects.
