Bozlu Art Project Nişantaşı, 22 ekim - 6 aralık 2015 tarihleri arasında Türkiye’de soyut sanatın önde gelen isimlerinden Özdemir Altan’ın “Kral ve Kraliçeler’den Don Kişot’lara” isimli kişisel sergisine ev sahipliği yapıyor.

Küratörlüğünü Özlem İnay Erten’in yaptığı sergide, Özdemir Altan’ın 1960’lı yıllarda gerçekleştirdiği “Krallar ve Kraliçeler” serisinden, 1970’li yıllardaki “Gerçekçi Dönem”ine, 1980’li yıllarda ürettiği kavramsal sorgulamalar içeren üç boyutlu işlerinden, kolajlara ve 1990’lı yıllarda başlayıp günümüze kadar devam ettirdiği Soyağaçları’ndan, son dönem çalışmalarını içeren Don Kişot serisine kadar uzanan farklı dönemlerinden örneklerin yer aldığı geniş bir seçkiye yer veriliyor. Sanatçının bu tarihler arasındaki ara dönemlerinin ve kolektif çalışmalarının da izlenebileceği sergi, Altan’ın uzun sanat yaşamında giderek daha da netleşen sanatsal görüşlerinin özeti niteliğinde.

gibi motto niteliğindeki sözleriyle sanata dair görüşlerini yineleyen ve çalışmalarını uzun yıllardır bu doğrultuda devam ettiren sanatçının, yetmiş yıla yaklaşan sanat yaşamındaki önemli köşe taşlarını yansıtmayı amaçlayan sergi, her değişimin ve başlanan yeni serinin bir sanatçı için kendi içinde barındırdığı “risk” unsurundan hareketle, Altan’ın uzun yıllardır devam ettirdiği coşkulu arayışları gözler önüne sermek istiyor.

Özdemir Altan 

1931 yılında doğdu. İstanbul'da yaşıyor. 1956 yılında İstanbul Devlet Güzel Sanatlar Akademisi (Bugünkü adıyla Mimar Sinan Güzel Sanatlar Akademisi) Resim Bölümü, Zeki Faik İzer atölyesini bitirdi. 1963-1965 yılları arasında Paris Bienalleri başta olmak üzere çok sayıda uluslararası ve ulusal etkinliğe katıldı, çok sayıda kişisel sergi açtı. Yazar ve konferansçı olarak yaygın bir isim yaptı. Altan, Modern, Avangard düşünce, Pop Art ve özellikle Postmodern sanatın Türkiye'deki ilk uygulayıcılarındandır.

Yapıtlarında değişik doku, strüktür eleman, malzeme, sanat görüşü, ışık vb. aykırılığın rastlantısal olarak bir araya gelmesiyle oluşan bir sanat anlayışını benimsemiştir. 1988'den bu yana giderek daha da netleşen bir düşünce ile sanatsal espasın birbirinden farklı kavram, köken, yapı ve mantıkların birleşmesiyle oluştuğunu uç noktada kanıtlamak amacıyla “rastlantısal buluşma” yöntemini geliştirmiştir.

Kırk yıla yaklaşan eğitimcilik kariyerinde uzun yıllar boyunca irdelediği ve derslerinde temel öğreti unsuru olarak ele aldığı “espas”ın önce bütün sanat tarihi boyunca kullanılış biçimine açıklık getirip "…Sanat birbirinden farklı, kavram, köken, yapı ve mantıkların birleşmesiyle oluşur…" şeklinde bir sonuca vararak, bunu 1970 yılındaki doçentlik deneme dersinde “Resim Sanatında Mekan” başlıklı manifesto niteliğindeki konferansta sunmuş ve ilerleyen yıllarda sanatsal çalışmalarını bu yönde geliştirmiştir.

Bozlu Art Project hosts the personal exhibition titled "From Kings and Queens to Don Quixotes" between October 22 and December 6, of Özdemir Altan, a prominent artist of abstract art in Turkey.

Bozlu Art Project Nişantaşı hosts the personal exhibition of Özdemir Altan, a prominent artist of abstract art in Turkey. In the exhibition curated by Özlem İnay Erten, a wide selection of examples from various periods of Özdemir Altan will be displayed including the "Kings and Queens" series he created in the 60s, his "Realistic Period" in the 70s, the three dimensional works comprising conceptual queries that he created in the 80s, his collages, the Genealogical Trees he started in the 90s and carried on to date and the Don Quixote series comprising his recent works. The exhibition, where the interim periods of the artist between these dates and his collective works may also be viewed, is a summary of the artistic views of Altan, which are increasingly clarified in his long career in art.

...A meaning cannot be attributed to art by force. It should be allowed to find its meaning itself..."

The exhibition, which aims to reflect the important milestones in the artist's career of nearly seventy years who has repeated his views on art with the aforementioned words, which can be considered as his motto, and who has carried out his works accordingly for many years, based on the "risk" element every change and newly started series carry for an artist, aims to display the invigorated quests Altan has been carrying out for many years.

Özdemir Altan 

He was born in 1931. He lives in Istanbul. He graduated from the Istanbul Fine Arts Academy (now known as Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University) Painting Department, Zeki Faik İzer Atelier in 1956. Between 1963 and 1965, he took part in many national and international events including the Paris Biennials and he opened many personal exhibitions. He made a widely recognized name as a writer and lecturer. Altan is one of the first practitioners of Modern and Avant-garde thought, Pop Art and especially postmodern art.

The artist has made contributions to the development of contemporary art in Turkey with his idiosyncratic and fictionalized world. The artist, who explains his impact on the artists of his generation and the following generations with the words "An artist gives references, an impact is unavoidable; not the means, but the ends are important.", has adopted a sense of art that has emerged in result of various textures, structure elements, materials, artistic views, lights and similar contradictions randomly coming together in his artworks. He has developed the method of "random meeting" for fully proving that artistic space is made up of the combination of different concepts, origins, structures and logics, with an opinion increasingly clarified since 1988.

He has clarified the usage method of the "space" throughout the history of art, which he has examined for many years within his career of an educator approaching forty years and which he has taken as a basic element of discipline in his courses, and coming to the conclusion that "...Art is made up of the combination of different concepts, origins, structures and logics...", the has presented this in a manifest conference titled "Space in the Art of Painting" in his associate professorship trial course in 1970 and in the following years he has developed his artistic works in that direction.
